The project is called 3DOS, because it represents a 3D Operating System, bridging the digital world to the physical world.
Anyone that has a digital 3D design, can have it 3D printed and manufactured globally, without any upfront costs. This radically smashes the barrier of entry to take a product to market. If it doesn't sell, it doesn't get manufactured. This allows anyone globally, no matter of economic status, to simply with a mobile phone or computer, to start selling products globally.
Prior to Youtube, a person had to invest a lot of money to broadcast video. After Youtube, anyone could upload a video and start to monetize.
Prior to 3DOS, a person today has to spend $1000's of dollars to make a prototype, and $10,000+ to have the most basic product manufactured, and if it doesn't sell, they have lost their entire investment. After 3DOS, any person can simply upload a design, and sell it on any market place globally. If it sells, then only then, it will be manufactured locally.
Priot to 3DOS, a person or company that has 3D printers and manufacturing capacity, had to broadcast that capacity with expensive google ads, tradeshows, sales and marketing costs. Finding a manufacturer and specific machines globally was like searching the yellow pages.
After 3DOS, any person or company that has 3D printers and manufacturing capacity, can broadcast that availability and idle capacity close to zero cost.
